Style: Munich Dunkel Lager
ABV: 4.8%
Origin: Bremen, Germany
Pours a clear, dark brown with a small, fizzy head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. Lightly roasted malty aroma. A faint, sweet flavor with a tad bit of biscuit and bitter spices from the hops. Mouth-feel is thin and watery. Overall, a below-average Dunkel and an extremely poor example of the style. A watery Pilsner with lightly roasted malts.
Not undrinkable, but still a disgrace to the reputation of German brewing tradition; obviously watered down for the U.S. market.
Twenty-five years ago, when my palate was very immature, I considered this to be a great beer. These days, it's little more than colored, fizzy water. Still better than most anything brewed in America, but that isn't saying much.
