Style: Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 11.0%
Origin: Drammen, Norway
This beer is as black as any stout you'll ever see, absolutely no light can get through this one. It also has one of the darkest heads you'll ever see! But, it doesn't last long. The carbonation is quite low, requiring a lot of swirling to revive the head.
Odin's Tipple has a nose-full of dark chocolate malts up front. It's a hugely impressive nose with every element I look for in a stout and more. Not only the chocolate malts, but also some spices, smokiness and sweet caramel aromas.
This is a seriously good beer! At first the malts just blast your taste buds with a huge hit of chocolaty smokiness. As the beer warms, caramel and licorice flavors become more prominent, as do some spices and dark fruit flavors. The texture is quite light bodied with a bit of a boozy aftertaste in the finish.
