Style: Belgian Dubbel
ABV: 6.5%
Origin: Harelbeke-Bavikhove, Belgium
Poured into a 12 oz. chalice.
Pours a dark reddish-brown with good head retention and some lacing. The aroma has a lot of things goin on. Raisins, figs, dates, cherries and yeasty aromas. Taste is Belgian yeast, (of course) tart cherries, brown sugar and a hint of port wine. Starts off moderately sweet, the finish is fairly dry with some slight tartness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth with very little carbonation, like a dubbel should be.
Overall, probably one of the very best Belgian dubbels I've had to date. A rich and robust example of the style.
The average price in my area is $3.99 for a 11.2 oz bottle.
